Modulate-Action
The modulate-action pilot-operated safety relief valve is a specialized device designed to protect pressure vessels and piping systems from overpressure conditions.
Explanation
The modulate-action pilot-operated safety relief valve is a specialized device designed to protect pressure vessels and piping systems from overpressure conditions.
Unlike conventional pilot-operated PRVs that fully open or close at set pressure points, modulate-action PRVs use a pilot mechanism to gradually adjust flow in response to system pressure changes. This allows them to maintain a stable set pressure and effectively manage pressure fluctuations.
For liquid service, modulate-action PRVs should be selected in accordance with API 520.
Standards Compliance
This type of safety valve meets all relevant requirements of:
- API 520 – Sizing and selection
- API 521 – Pressure-relieving and depressuring systems
- API 526 – Flanged steel pressure relief valves
- ISO 4126 – Safety valves
- GOST 31294 – Russian standard for pressure relief devices
