Menu
ASME B16.5 is an internationally recognized standard for pipe flanges and flanged fittings, published by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
Key Features:
- Size range: Covers pipes from NPS ½” to NPS 24″
- Pressure classes: 150, 300, 400, 600, 900, 1500, and 2500
- Flange types: Weld Neck (WN), Blind, Socket Weld (SW), Threaded, Lap Joint, and Ring-Type Joint (RTJ)
- Materials: Carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steels, and nickel alloys (in accordance with ASTM standards)
Purpose and Benefits:
- Defines pressure-temperature ratings, dimensions, tolerances, and testing requirements
- Ensures leak-tightness and mechanical integrity
- Facilitates interchangeability between manufacturers
- Serves as a selection guide for piping engineers to choose the correct flange type, size, and pressure class
